"What Shall We Teach Our Children?"
Biblical Morality
We live in a world that has, so it seems, completely abandoned Biblical morality. The moral climate of America is at a record ebb. From the printed page to radio, television, and the Internet the American public is being bombarded to abandon Biblical morality! Since God and the Bible is being set aside, what approach is being used to replace Biblical morality? There are three approaches the world uses to solve the dilemma of what constitutes morality. They are legalism, which adheres to strict adherence to rules, antinomianism, which is opposed to any laws, and situation ethics, which states that circumstance alters the situation, which also emphasizes the principle of love alone. Since no one approach is considered the standard, each person is left to choose for himself. The end result of following such a course of action, as Batsell Barrett Baxter concluded, "leads to anarchy and ultimately to the total breakdown of civilization!"
Our young people are being taught the seemingly innocent philosophy of "Values Clarification" which at first appearance seems to be very acceptable. After all, most parents are in favor of their children being taught proper values. This process, however, is designed on the assumption that there are no absolute goods and they cannot be known. The process actually calls for each student developing his own system of values. Bear in mind that "Values Clarification" is the method Humanism uses to promote its godless ideals!
So the question of "What constitutes moral values?" is extremely important. If there is no absolute standard of right and wrong, then did Timothy McVey violate any law when he murdered 168 helpless men, women, boys, and girls in the Oklahoma City bombing? So you see when man abandons God and the Bible, chaos is the end result! As Jeremiah stated in the long ago, ". . .it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps" (Jer. 10:23)! Anarchy reigns when there is no absolute standard of morality!
We have seen in this country God, His word, and prayer removed from our schools. Many students are being taught the godless theory of evolution; the Bible is a hoax, and that there is no absolute standard of morality. So we should not be surprised when a student’s behavior reflects what they have been taught and not taught! Hosea stated a universal law, "For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind. . ." (Hosea 8:7). That same universal law is set forth in Galatians 6:7-8, "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting."
Beloved, the government with all of its programs and power cannot change human nature! Since God created man in His image (Gen.1:26), He knows what man needs and has given His word as the absolute standard to follow (2 Tim.3:16-17; 2 Pet.1:3). That which distinguishes the Bible from the Koran and other man-made books is its inspiration. Not only does the Bible answer man’s most profound questions, but it does so in such a way that proves it to be the inspired word of God. As a matter of fact, everything that Christ offers is for man’s betterment. Make a list of what the atheist and agnostic offers and see if even comes close to what Christ offers!
Regardless of one’s problems, Christ supplies the answers: poor health (Phil.4:11), material needs (Matt.6:33), anxiety (Phil.4:6-7), dealing with one’s mate (Eph.5:22-33), children (Eph.6:1-4), employer & employee relationship (Col.3:22-4:1), racism (Matt.7:12), honesty (Rom.12:17), false teachers (Rom.16:17), the tongue (James 3), abortion (Jer.1:5), homosexuality (Rom.1:26-28,32), euthanasia (Ex.20:13), the elderly (Tit.2:2-3), lust of the flesh (I John 2:15-17), an enemy (Rom.12:18-21), death (I Thess.4:13-18), becoming a Christian (Acts 2:37-38), being a good citizen (Rom.13:1-7), young people (I Tim.4:12), love of money (I Tim.6:10). Yes, Christ supplies our every need! Indeed the gospel is truly "good news!" Where ever the gospel is taken the world becomes a better place. The only light that can penetrate the darkness of sin is ". . .the light of the glorious gospel of Christ. . ." (2 Cor. 4:4).
Mom, dad, if you haven’t, start immediately studying the Bible with your children. The only hope this nation and the world has is found in God and His word! Yes, you and your family are the key to turning this nation back to God and His word! "O earth, earth, earth, hear the word of the Lord" (Jer. 22:29)!
