Noah And Our Salvation
Almost all of us are familiar with the narrative concerning Noah and the flood, but it is interesting to consider how Noah was saved and see how it is a picture of our own salvation in this present age.
1. Noah Was Saved By Grace: "But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord" (Genesis 6:8). We are saved by grace. "For by grace are ye saved through faith and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God" (Ephesians 2:8).
2. Noah Was Saved By Faith: We are saved by faith. "But without faith it is impossible to please him; for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him" (Hebrews 11:6).
3. Noah Was Saved By Obedience: "...prepared an ark..." (Hebrews 11:7). We are saved by obedience. "Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter the Kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven" (Matthew 7:21)
4. Noah Was Saved By Water: "Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water" (1 Peter 3:20). We are saved by water. "The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ" (1 Peter 3:21).
Noah was not saved by one or two of these above, but by all of them, and we too are saved not by one or two of the above separate from the others, but by all of them together and only by all of them together.
