Scriptural Evangelism
Every congregation today should be involved in evangelism - scriptural evangelism. Indeed every Christian should involve themselves in the work of teaching others the soul saving message. If we do not concern ourselves with scriptural evangelism, it stands to reason we are taking part in unscriptural evangelism. What is scriptural evangelism?
Scriptural Evangelism Is
Not "Telling Someone Off."
This does not teach them the truth. This closes doors of opportunity probably
permanently.
Scriptural Evangelism Is
Not Tacking Somebody's Hide To The Wall.
This may accomplish something, but it does not accomplish what God wants.
Scriptural Evangelism Is
Not Playing On Emotions.
Emotional reaction alone is just that - it is emotional reaction. It doesn't
save souls!
Scriptural Evangelism Is
Not Being Rude Or Sarcastic.
There is no Bible authority for such. The truth is to be spoken in love
(Ephesians 4:15).
Scriptural Evangelism Is
Not Going By How One Feels Concerning Salvation.
One may feel saved, but man is not to be directed by his feelings. He must have
an obedient attitude (Acts 9:6).
Scriptural Evangelism Is
Not Doing All The Talking.
We need to listen so we can better understand what others know and don't know so
we will be better able to teach them!
Scriptural Evangelism Is
Not Putting Pressure On Someone To See It Our Way.
They must see it God's way and obey God's way because they love God and want to
serve Him the remainder of their lives.
Scriptural Evangelism Is
Not Talking Someone Into Obeying The Gospel When They Are Not Ready.
This is a serious step. We must help guide (through the Word) and encourage,
but we cannot and must not encourage anyone to obey God's Truth unless they are
ready.
Scriptural Evangelism Is
Not Just "Getting People Baptized".
If the individual did not repent, have faith in Christ and confess Christ
before man, he or she is not a candidate for baptism!
Scriptural Evangelism Is
Teaching Christ And Baptism (Acts 8:35-39).
You cannot separate Christ from baptism. Anyone who tries practices
unscriptural baptism.
Scriptural Evangelism Is
Loving Your Neighbor As Yourself (Matthew 22:39).
If we love other souls as we love our own, we will be diligent in teaching
others.
Scriptural Evangelism Is
Proving You Are God's People Through Your Love For His People (John 13:34).
We need to learn to love as Jesus loved - when we do this we love maturely
in a sacrificial committed way.
Scriptural Evangelism Is
Realizing How God Views A Soul (John 3:16, 17).
Souls will spend eternity somewhere and God wants them with Him. God saw
worth in man's soul and sent His only begotten son to die for souls!
Scriptural Evangelism Is
Encouragement.
We must always take the time to encourage others to obey the Truth and
encourage them to be faithful to God. If we fail to encourage, we have truly
failed.
Scriptural Evangelism Is
Staying With Truth (John 8:32; 17:17).
If we don't stay with Truth, we do not stay with God's soul saving plan.
Scriptural Evangelism
Is Pleading With People.
We should sincerely plead with and for souls. Heaven is too wonderful to miss
and hell is too horrible. We must plead with souls for their salvation.
Scriptural Evangelism Is
Giving A Reason Of The Hope Within Us (1 Peter 3:15)
There is a difference between telling people we have hope and giving a
reason of the hope within us. Let's be familiar with God's Word so we can give a
legal defense of our hope!
Scriptural Evangelism Is
What Is Acceptable To God.
It results in the Word being proclaimed so souls can spend eternity with
God. It accomplishes the Will of God.
